Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Tyrone is dedicated to providing excellence and expertise to patients experiencing hair loss. As the award recipient of the 2016–2018 Winner of Gainesville's Best of the Best Plastic or Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Tyrone is board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon proudly serving North Florida. As a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, Dr. Tyrone also specializes in hair loss and hair restoration treatments, such as male pattern baldness, hair loss in women, and NeoGraft.
John W. Tyrone, III, M.D. is a Florida Native and grew up in St. Petersburg. After attending the University of Florida in 1990, he earned a bachelor’s in economics. While at UF, Dr. Tyrone was elected into the Omicron Delta Epsilon Honor Society. After leaving UF, he attended medical school and graduated within the top quarter of his class at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
While Dr. Tyrone continued to succeed in surgical training, he was one of six students, out of over 100 students, that were selected for an Honors Course in Surgery. After completing medical school, he took part in surgical training for five years at the University of California San Francisco-East Bay. Intern of the year, Residency Advisor and Chief Resident were awarded to him during his time at the University of California San Francisco-East Bay.
Dr. Tyrone was accepted into a highly prestigious and competitive plastic surgery fellowship at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Emory University houses the Division of Plastic Surgery, which is a nationally renowned training program and world leader in plastic surgery innovation. Furthering his passion for plastic surgery, he earned honors achievements and status of Chief Resident while at Emory University.
Dr. Tyrone moved on to Northwestern University in Chicago, where he spent two years researching and specializing in plastic surgery and wound healing. Due to his extensive research and specialized work, he earned a multitude of awards and a grant from the Plastic Surgery Education Foundation. Dr. Tyrone authored numerous publications, has written textbook chapters and presented his work to national and international audiences.
Over 14 years of education and training have been accumulated by Dr. Tyrone since obtaining his undergrad degree. Dr. Tyrone is widely known as one of the most highly trained physicians in the Southeastern United States.
